How does ticket inspection work in train in France?

In France, ticket checks on trains are generally carried out by the conductor or sworn ground or on-board staff.

When you board the train, there are usually ticket gates or validators at the entrance. There, you will need to scan the QR code of the reservation instead of the QR code of the Pass France Germany at the gate or validator. The validity of the ePass will be checked by the conductor or train staff. This process enables the railway company to check the validity of the Pass and the reservation.

On trains without compulsory reservation, such as regional trains, the gates will open with the Pass France Germany QR code.

When on the They will ask to see the reservation and the Pass France Germany QR code to validate it.

If a seat has been reserved, the ticket inspector will also check that you are in the right seat. The details of the seat reservation must be shown on the ticket or on the Rail Planner application, and the ticket inspector will ask to see them too.

In the event of problems with reservations or the France-Germany Pass, such as an expired Pass or an incorrect reservation, the ticket inspector will inform you of the situation and can guide you through the necessary steps to rectify the problem. Please note that on trains with compulsory reservations, boarding the train without presenting your Pass with an activated travel date and the associated reservation is impossible. Failure to comply with ticketing requirements may result in penalties or fines, so it is essential to ensure that the ticket is valid and correctly presented.

It is important to note that specific procedures and practices may vary between train operators or types of trains in France. It is therefore advisable to follow the instructions provided by train staff and ask for clarification if necessary.
